Holiday season is a time in which many people travel, either to visit family, friends or simply if they are looking to do something different and celebrate outside the city. But many times, traveling is not as comfortable as expected and you can come across many circumstances that can alter your body and cause severe pain.
These are some of the activities that can cause injuries when traveling and that you must be aware of.
Bad Posture When Driving
The consequences of a bad posture behind the wheel can be very annoying and long-lasting. Few drivers maintain an adequate posture when driving, subjecting the body to uncomfortable tension that can lead to physical injuries. Going too tight, too stretched, or driving with one hand can cause health problems in the short and medium term.
Not Taking Breaks Or Stretching
Roadtripping is a wonderful experience but it can also have negative consequences for your body. We recommend creating “Driving Rules”. It is essential to change your posture and stretch your legs to relax your body and avoid injury and drink lots of water to prevent cramps. It is also recommended to rest every two hours when behind the wheel on a long trip. Taking an “out-of-car” break at a Pit Stop can include a trip to the bathroom, drinking water, or getting a meal or snack.
Sleeping In Uncomfortable Positions For Your Body
There is nothing like your own bed to sleep well, which is why when we travel many times we come back with some kind of pain. Sleeping in unfamiliar beds, chairs, cars, planes, or other locations can increase the risk of contracting some pain, especially if the body is left in an uncomfortable position. Make sure you always sleep as relaxed as possible and in the most comfortable way for your body.
Carrying Heavy Suitcases
Many times, when we injure our back it’s because we do not use it properly when we have to carry weight. We recommend that you don’t carry your bags too much if they are very heavy and carry two or one in each hand, distributing the weight evenly to avoid any type of injury.
Over-Stressing
Although vacations and trips are planned to be enjoyed, many people tend to become highly stressed during this time. Stress can cause you a lot of physical discomforts, remember your emotions will always be reflected in your body, so enjoy, laugh, relax and try not to worry about a lot of things during your trip.
