New Back Pain Treatment Option at Miami Back & Neck Pain Center
Back in June, I attended the Florida Chiropractic Association’s convention in Doral, Florida. I got to meet some great people and had a good time, but by far the best thing that happened was when I learned more about a back pain treatment device that I had never had the chance to use before called the Protec Floating Manipulative Therapy System. I watched as the man tending the booth demonstrated how to use it. It looked like it was easy to use and would provide relief for patients of mine who have back pain, so I decided to try the device out for myself. He strapped me in, and then I saw what the big deal was.
I was so impressed with this machine’s ease of use for free-floating spinal manipulation that I had to order one for the Miami Back & Neck Pain Center. I am very excited to start offering this treatment for my patients!
About the Protec Floating Manipulative Therapy System
Since its introduction at the August 2000 International Human Science Convention by Dr. Hiroshi Jonai, the Protec Floating Manipulative Therapy System has gained wide recognition. Today, over 3,000 of these machines are being used by medical and health professionals, from surgeons and chiropractors to personal trainers.
Unlike traditional spinal traction devices, which mechanically separate the vertebrae to provide pain relief and healing, the Protec uses gravity. Because the Protec offers free-floating manipulation, patients and doctors have more options when designing a treatment program. Whereas traditional spinal decompression devices require the patient to lie still, the Floating Manipulative Therapy System allows movement. This is important for a more targeted approach to back pain treatment.

As you can see, the device is versatile. It also allows people who were not previously candidates for traditional spinal decompression a chance to find relief
What This Back Pain Treatment Does
Like traditional spinal decompression, the Protec System gently separates the vertebrae in the lower and middle back, allowing the discs to stretch out. The decompression allows nutrients to flow into the discs, which helps them heal if they are damaged. This can relieve pressure from the nerves that surround the spine. In many cases, it is the pressure that the discs put on these nerves that causes back pain. The Protec System treats:
- Disc degeneration
- Spinal stenosis
- Herniated discs
- Bulging discs
- Sciatica
It also allows the doctor to manipulate the spine during decompression.
